final zombie main character re-do

Some sketchezzz

Inuit spirit girl...

Hey Kekoa, take this in whatever direction pleases you...this is where I was headed with it. I'm posting some ref of little girls from those video games we were taking a look at...the whole idea of a feral little girl is cool but might be a bit complicated to communicate visually without straying into creepy territory. If you need any help or have any questions just let me know, I did my own final in pencil and if you just wanted you could take it and digitize it in a style close to Chelsea's rendering of the shaman dude, or draw her again I don't really care. Thanks!

Creep Girl

Ghost or shambling corpse girl.  Not so much decaying, but pale and almost feral like.

Ghost Girl Thing

I was thinking some kind of weird animal/human thing.  For me, like a girl with animal like characteristics or a dog with human characteristics.  It wouldn't be like some werewolf but a more feral like person.  Hair matted, teeth bared, something that is creepy and sad like?
I'll get my drawings up tonight or tomorrow morning at the latest to show what I was thinking.
But if you guys come up with the direction today, I'll adjust mine accordingly.
Thanks!

Waaah! I'm late!!!

I'm so sorry guys. :'( But here's my antagonist, she's very sorry she's late, too. She doesn't look very sorry, but that's how it is with some antagonists, I guess.

Villain Cartoon network style

Why is drawing fat things so meditating? I love it, ok here are some experiments with the turnip shape, trying to uphold a youthful figure to the little girl with all the weight, it's tricky but I discovered it's in the connection of the shoulders. If you make them too broad she instantly looks like a man thug thang, definitely no bueno...

Cartoon Network Villain Sketches

I don't feel like these are super inspired, but maybe they'll be a good springboard to the final project.
Meeting Notes

First we discussed the importance of making our character shape-based (see visuals posted last night).

Next, we nailed some specifics for our character-- to suprise everyone, we will make our antagonist a girl (We even toyed with the idea of her having a crush on robot-boy). We envisioned a sort of roly-poly, geeky, "space princess"-esque antagonist.

Remember our audience, ages 5-12.

Let's have fun and get creative!!! Show off the fruits of your creativity by posting sketches on our blog by Friday midnight, Saturday morning at the latest.

...Also, if you need a shape to inspire you, try making her a turnip shape. that's right-- rounded at the top, pinched at the bottom.

Now, who is going to do the final pass and what elements did we like from each sketch?

Main Character

Here's my ... very simple work. :( Sorry his legs are so...noodly. Anyway, yay! I managed to do (most of) my homework!!

-Aileen

K so these are some really ghetto sketches...my other passes somehow got in my boyfriends car which is up
in Salt Lake currently which should have been back several hours ago but surprise its not :) I'll be postin some more stuff tonight which isn't so scary but here's some quickies for the meanwhile
Also, I thought a moody, contemplative mignola-esque look would suit our character and audience. just sayin'.

kim's idea / VERY rough sketches

Sorry I took forever! Here it is:

sketches - sci-fi main character

here's just a few sketches I busted out after the meeting. There's not a ton of variation, but at least it's something! Now gimme yo feedback brothas and sistas.

Sci-fi genre set in the future
part of a space flight academy undergoing training (pilot?)
think hunger games esque :  the main character has a unique strength
possible ideas for strengths or mutant abilites; super brilliant (megamind) other cool skillz

                      - psychometric:
a form of extra-sensory perception characterized by the claimed ability to make
relevant associations from an object of unknown history by making physical                                                        contact with that object

Soooo here are some ideas generated from the session tonight to get you guys excited about this design. These are NOT set in stone just some details to give you some direction to create a super cool character design  :) Please feel free to add suggestions if you have any. Just a reminder let's have some concept sketches posted to the blog by Monday night let's say around 7:30. Thanks guys and I'm looking forward to see what you come up with!
